RIGHT TO BELIEF OR NOT TO BELIEF: WILL IT BE THE NEW SEED OF DISCORD?

It is increasingly becoming offensive to express GOD Almighty in public. You are not expected to mention GOD in public so that you won’t offend the other person near or your neighbour. It started in America, but it is spreading across the globe. However, it is not offensive for that other petson to freely speak about magic, which is contrary to the Christian faith. The situation is not only an issue of human right, but a challenge to mutual co-existence and peace.

The recent story of a female toll-taker, Cynthia Fernandez, who resigned because her boss asked her not to greet customers: ‘GOD Bless You’ and is suing her boss for violating her right is very interesting. It is interesting because of what I call ‘hate GOD syndrome’ in some countries, which comes in the form of ‘don’t speak about GOD in public’. The syndrome is increasing. The politicians, for votes, don’t seem to care whether it is hurting Christians or not. It must, however, be state that it is a violation of the right of Christian believers to belief in GOD and to freely express this belief. If one does not believe in GOD Almighty, that is that person’s individual right, which he or she is entitled to. The conflict comes when a Chridtian is restrained or warned to express his or her belief in public because ‘it will offend’ the person who does not believe. I have continued to wonder: Should the person that believes be made not to express his or her belief because of someone who doesn’t believe? I strongly say, No! If the Christian believer is restrained or halted, it simply means that he or she has lost the right to belief because of the person who doesn’t believe or for the respect of the right of the other person ‘not to belief’. This can’t be right or lawful.

Those who don’t believe in GOD Almighty are increasingly not ready to allow those who believe express their belief publicly. This, to my mind, is certainly psychological warfare. It is so sad that many of those who oppose Christians expressing GOD publicly see nothing wrong, for example, in semi nude fashion and different guises of pornography, which offend the faith and belief of Christian faithfuls. So, why has the World not stopped near nude fashion as it offends the religious belief of Christian faithfuls? You see those who don’t believe in GOD Almighty publicly use profane and swear words that Christian faith abhors. I ask also: Shouldn’t the belief of Christian faithfuls be protected?

There is imperative need for re-orientation in many societies across the globe for enduring harmony in the societies. I see a new wave of intolerance in the horizon. Let everyone hold his or her belief, and let everyone learn to tolerate each other’s expression of his or her belief. Tolerance, no doubt, is a sine qua non for peaceful co-existence.

We can make this World look like a big and happy family, if we learn tolerance, and practice it. I believe that there is GOD Almighty. Will you hate or despise me?
